Jesus Teaches About Prayer
Matt.6:5 - “When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites. They love to stand in the synagogues and on the street corners and pray so people will see [notice] them. I tell you the truth, they already have their full reward.
Matt.6:6 - When you pray, you should go into your [private; inner] room and close the door and pray to your Father who cannot be seen [or who is in that secret place; or secretly; in private]. Your Father can see what is done in secret [private], and He will reward you."
Psalm 19:12 - Forgive me for my secret [hidden] sins.
Matt.6:7 - “And when you pray, don’t be like those people who don’t know God [the pagans/Gentiles/heathen]. They continue saying things that mean nothing [babble; repeat empty phrases], thinking that God will hear them because of their many words.
Matt.6:8 - Don’t be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask Him.
Matt.6:9 - So when you pray, you should pray like this: 'Our Father in heaven'
Matt.11:25-26 - At that time Jesus said, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the people who are wise and smart [learned; intelligent]. But You have shown [revealed] them to those who are like little children [those with a childlike faith]. Yes, Father, [because] this is what You really wanted.
Matt.26:39 - After walking a little farther away from them, Jesus fell [with his face] to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, do not give me [let pass from me] this cup of suffering [cup; suffering is metaphorically portrayed as something bitter to drink]. But do what You want [your will], not what I want [my will].”
Matt.26:42 - Then Jesus went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this painful thing [the cup of suffering] to be taken from me, and if I must do [drink] it, I pray that what You want [may Your] will be done.”
Luke 23:34 - Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, because they don’t know what they are doing.”
Luke 23:46 - Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Father, I give you my life [into your hands I entrust/commit my spirit; Ps. 31:5].”
John 11:41 - So they moved the stone away from the entrance. Then Jesus looked up [raised His eyes] and said, “Father, I thank you that You heard me."
John 12:27,28 - “Now I am very [my soul is] troubled. Should I say, ‘Father, save me from this time [hour]’? No, I came to this time so I could suffer [for this reason I have come to this hour]. Father, bring glory to [glorify; honor] Your name!”
John 17:2 - After Jesus said these things, He looked [raised his eyes] toward heaven and prayed [said], “Father, the time [hour; the time of his death and resurrection] has come. Give glory to [Glorify; Honor] Your Son so that the Son can give glory to [glorify; honor] You.
John 17:5 - And now, Father, give me glory [glorify/honor me] with You [or in your presence]; give me the glory [honor] I had with You before the world was made [existed; began].
John 17:11 - "I am coming to you; I will not stay in the world any longer. But they are still in the world. Holy Father, keep them safe by the power of [or keep them loyal to] Your name, the name You gave me, so that they will be one, just as You and I are one.
John 17:21 - "Father, I pray [ask] that they can be one. As You are in me and I am in you,"
John 17:24 - “Father, I want these people that You gave me to be with me where I am."
John 17:25 - "Father, You are the One who is good [ Righteous Father,…]."
Matt.7:7-11 - Asking/ Praying/ Seeking is always a Father and son relationship.
If you are His son/ daughter, you will receive what you ask.
